Interior Designer | Clients
Hi, I’m Brittany. I am one of the client designers here at designQ, and I have the fortune of working with clients, who have purchased a new home, in order to create a functional and beautiful space dedicated to their individual needs and wants. Learn more about me below!
What is your favorite CURRENT design trend, and why?
My favorite current trend would have to be herringbone or parquet installation used on hardwood or vinyl plank flooring. It looks great in both contemporary and traditional spaces. It’s a trend that keeps coming back around every few years, and I think it adds some really wonderful visual interest to a space. I would recommend it in a larger room, or a main floor setting, as it can appear busy in smaller spaces.
What is your favorite PAST design trend, and why?
White cabinets. While they haven’t gone out of style yet, they’re not currently “on trend” anymore. White cabinets freshen up a space and bring in some light! You can’t go wrong with white (especially in bathrooms), it’s really timeless.
What do you like most about working at design Q?
designQ is special. The management staff is extremely supportive- which trickles down, and as a result the team gets along noticeably well! My co-workers are all very smart and kind women, and to top it off, I get to help my clients create a home they actually WANT to live in. What’s not to like about all that?
What is your favorite room in a home, and why?
It’s a tie between the kitchen and the bedroom. The kitchen is such an integral part of a home, and there’s something to be said about a space where the family gathers. A functional kitchen is so crucial, and varies so much from home to home; which makes it constantly interesting to assist clients with the design. The bedroom is an intimate space, however it should be a space where you can find solace and comfort. The way a bedroom is designed can affect your sleep patterns and your mood among other things. I love creating a bedroom where the occupant feels comfortable.
Describe your dream vacation.
I love different cuisines, so I like to travel anywhere that’s known for their good food. I would love to go to New Orleans or South America and explore an authentic experience.
What advice would you give a client when staging their new home?
Do some research on what you like, and decide what your design priorities are before any design appointment. There is so much information out there these days at the click of the button. If you have any questions, you can always ask your designer; we are here to help and educate you on what your options are, but it helps if you have a little bit of previous information. We have fantastic “Preview Nights” on Thursdays where clients can come and ask our designers any finish-related questions.
