Buying an appliance for your new home is a big decision. With so many brands, models and features to choose from, it can be difficult to know where to start. Not to mention, it’s important to make sure the appliances you do end up selecting will fit just right into your new home.

At designQ, we want to ensure you get all the information and facts about all the available options. Which is why we collaborate with Trail Appliances to ensure you get all the expert advice and jargon-busting tips.

Prior to coming to your designQ appointment to select your interior finishes, you will need to go to Trail Appliances to select your appliances. At Trail Appliances you will meet with a builder representative who exclusively works with builder clients. They will be able to answer all of your burning appliance questions, and ensure they will fit seamlessly into your new home. Should you wish to add in built-in appliances, they can help you with that too! Once you have completed your appointment with Trail, they will then send your designer at designQ the appliance specifications so we can confidently design your kitchen with the correct dimensions.

Curious about why it is recommended to select your appliances prior to your designQ appointment? Read below to find out!

How do appliances affect your kitchen design?

Free Standing Appliances

These are your typical appliances that require no additional planning, and can be added to any standard sized opening space. Refer to the appliance spec sheet you would have received with your builder contract for the standard size openings.

Gas Range (gas line is an additional cost, and must be added by your builder prior to the designQ appointment)

There are a few different styles to choose from at Trail Appliances in the standard size. Select from a french door, top freezer, bottom freezer or side-by side. Whichever fridge you choose, make sure the doors will be able to open freely and not encumbered by any walls or cabinets.

Built-In Appliances

These appliances require custom cabinetry changes. Take special note of the following that needs to be adhered to when selecting built-ins:

  • An additional 2 hour designQ appointment may be booked to discuss the custom cabinet changes, if required by the Cabinetry Designers
  • There will be an additional cost for cabinet layout changes. Speak to your Area Sales Manager for more information.
