Chantel Hupka

Client Interior Designer

“I spend every day meeting new people and helping them put their beautiful ideas together to bring their home to life. What more could you ask for?”

Chantel is an Interior Designer at designQ who has been in the design industry for 5 years. She graduated from the Residential Interiors program at the University of Alberta while working full time at designQ. She also has her Design Consultant Professional Certification.

When she isn’t helping her clients build their dream homes, you can find her at home listening to Elton John while pencil sketching with a glass of rose. Chantel’s favourite design style is anything monochromatic and organic. She loves the minimal contrast but creates interest by mixing textures and materials. She’ll never forget to include some greenery to freshen things up!

“When you don’t see my face on our social media accounts, I’m behind the scenes sourcing the hottest trends of interior finishes for your home.”

Chelsi is an Interior Designer at designQ, lover of antiques and all things green. She has been in the design industry since 2011, when she graduated from Interior Design Technology program at NAIT. Shortly after graduation, Chelsi started with designQ helping clients select the interior finishes for their homes. When designQ opened the showhome division, she expanded her scope to focus on designing and staging showhomes. Since then, she has transitioned to working with the marketing team at designQ as Visual Merchandiser.

Chelsi has a passion for antique furniture and unique décor pieces, and her all-time favorite design style is Mid-Century. Having worked with designQ since it’s opening back in 2013, she has acquired a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the construction of new homes, and the interior design aspects.

“My favourite part of my position as a Showhome designer is getting to shop with someone else’s credit card… for a living!”

Jill graduated from Mount Royal University in 2007 where she received her Bachelors of Applied Interior Design. She has since worked with 3 established home builders, an interior design & architectural firm and a residential design firm. Her biggest accomplishment is having the opportunity to work on and design the 2017 Full House Lottery home in Windermere One.

In her spare time she enjoys sitting around a campfire with family and friends at their cabin. Fun fact, she was also born on Star Wars day! (May the 4th be with you!) She loves an eclectic interior that balances colour and texture with the perfect blend of old and new. Eclecticism is all about picking ideas and inspiration from a broad and diverse range of sources. Creating homes that are rich and layered with styles from design eras spanning centuries. She loves finding a good antique to incorporate into every interior!

Katharine has been in the residential construction industry since 2018 when she graduated from the Interior Design Technology program at Lethbridge College. Even though she’s a country girl at heart, her favourite design style is European Traditional. She loves the details, whether it’s tile or flooring inlays, arched doors, detailed wainscotting or a beautiful French chandelier. It’s the small details and finishing touches that turn a house into a home!

“I love working closely with our clients and helping them make their Pinterest dream home a reality! It warms my heart to know that the houses my clients build truly turn into their own personalized homes.”

Laurie-Anne Nguyen

Client Care Coordinator

“I love being able to assist clients and our design team so that when the appointment happens, everyone is on the same page and the appointment goes smoothly. I take the time to go through our process with clients so they feel prepared for their big day.”

Laurie-Anne has been in the industry since 2013 starting as an administrative assistant for Sterling Homes. After 5 years she wanted to learn more about interior design and decorating and had the opportunity to transfer to designQ! Laurie-Anne received her Legal Assistant diploma from Grant MacEwan in 2013 and worked at the Court of Queen’s Bench prior to finding her job at Sterling Homes. Laurie-Anne’s greatest love is her havanese puppy, Leon. She is an all-round nerd who loves European and Asian history, marvel comics and k-pop. Her favourite design style is minimalist because it involves using what you have to create a simple and uncluttered space. She believes that less is more and the simplicity of the design can be the base of altering your interior styles since designs change over time. Minimalist is the definition of both elegance and functionality that will make your home feel relaxing, calming and happy.

Madison Casson

Senior Showhome Designer

“I oversee all aspects of the showhome process from creating concepts, interior finishes and custom features, furniture and accessories, and the execution of staging the homes. My favourite part is creating the concepts, sourcing finishes that reflect the style and designing custom features.”

Madison graduated from Mount Royal University where she received her Bachelors of Applied Interior Design. She has been in the design industry for 7 years. She started her career working along side an independent Interior Designer who taught her the many aspects of the industry. In this role she worked on the Lottery Homes which gave her the knowledge for her future career at designQ. She began assisting clients with their selections, but soon transferred to the showhome team and in 2021 became our Senior Showhome Designer.

When she isn’t planning beautiful home concepts, she loves to paint landscapes and take her dog for walks in the river valley. Her favourite design style is mixing contemporary and traditional  with organic natural elements. She also has a soft spot for vintage antiques and traditional wall moldings, but also appreciates the crisp clean look of contemporary furniture and interior finishes. Lastly, she loves the presence of natural elements within the home, such as plants or natural materials.

What I love most about my job is that it doesn’t feel like a job at all! It’s a creative outlet! I get to have fun and create beautiful homes.

Nicole has been in the new home industry for 15 years after graduating from the Residential Interiors Program at the University of Alberta. She has extensive experience in the field of home staging and everything that goes along with it. Since working at designQ she has been blessed to meet and work along so many talented designers.

Nicole could not function without blue jeans, music and laughter, making this a necessity when setting up her showhomes! Her favourite interior design style is Modern Organic. She mostly loves the warm wood, simple lines and raw textures to it. For her, there’s nothing more important than walking into a warm inviting space that feels like home.
